Greetings Sunny Buddies,
It feels right to acknowledge to you today that, at times, I do find what is happening in the world profoundly challenging to my optimism. Sometimes, I awaken with a sense of sadness. It is not possible, or authentic, to be sunny all the time, is it? To pretend that everything is fine feels like hiding to me.
I love the book Ask and it is Given by Esther and Jerry Hicks and the powerful insight I gained about working with resistance. Through the teaching of the disincarnate guide Abraham, I understand that contrast is part of our human experience. By contrast, they mean the dance of our preferences 'what I like or want' versus 'what I don't like or don't want.' With a sigh, I see that there is much in the world not to like or want at the moment.
However, working with contrast enables us to 'rise above' resistance and touch into our life's purpose. I believe that we are Spirit Beings who have chosen to come into this lifetime to experience contrast. The photo below shows the ethereal nature of our reality. Can you see the shimmering? I love this image of the portal between the Physical and Spiritual realms.
The Golden Thread of our Spirit’s Journey
In the Spirit realm, there is no contrast, there is no separation. All is one.
I just love that!
It means that this physical life is an adventure that Spirit has chosen in order to experience the dance of preferences. If we listen, this exploring of contrast helps us to access the guiding blueprint for this lifetime. The one that our Spirit dreamt of when it decided to manifest as a human being. At the deepest level of our being, we know our purpose, which is beyond words, beyond explaining, and beyond ordinary everyday living.
The poem below by William Stafford (1914-1993) expresses this connection with Spirit in a delightfully evocative way.
The Way it is.
There’s a thread you follow. It goes among
things that change. But it doesn’t change.
People wonder about what you are pursuing.
You have to explain about the thread.
But it is hard for others to see.
While you hold it you can’t get lost.
Tragedies happen; people get hurt
or die; and you suffer and get old.
Nothing you do can stop time’s unfolding.
You don’t ever let go of the thread.
I appreciate the optimism in these words. This ‘Golden’ Thread calls us to hold on tight, remember, and live into our purpose—moment by moment by moment.
Questions for this Week
I hope you are well this week and are living into your Sacred blueprint. I hope you feel uplifted by knowing that you, too, have a Golden Thread that connects you to your purpose for being here on Earth. And so, I wonder;
What are you called to remember as you consider your Golden Thread?
How does touching the shimmering help you rise above concerns?
Where does your heart say to go next, and how?
As always, I would love to hear from you.

Collective Trauma Summit with Thomas Hübl
Have you come across the Thomas Hübl? I have attended and enjoyed several of Thomas's Mystical Principles of Healing programmes. As a result, I gained a deeper appreciation of the mystical interplay between spirit, body, mind, and emotions. Two things stood out for me in these experiences. The first was the precision and clarity that Thomas brought to the content. The second was my sense of his authenticity and integrity as a spiritual teacher.
More recently, Thomas has focused his offerings around the concept of Collective Trauma, where he offers insight and ways to help us all respond to 'humanity's deep social, historical, cultural, and multigenerational trauma'. From the 19th to the 28th of September, Thomas will lead the Collective Trauma Summit. He has brought together a wonderful mix of speakers. If you wish to see diversity and collective wisdom in action, I commend this Summit to you. I have heard there might be 100,000 people booked to attend. This is the calling power of Thomas's work and commitment to creative collaboration. It is free to watch live.
Here are some of Thomas's words from a recent Kosmos Journal article called Unlocking a Fresh Vision for the World.
'Humanity is at a choice point. We can decide together to honor our shared uncertainty, anxiety, and fear, as much as our innate strength, determination, and capacity to transform. We can engage in mutual presencing practices and reaffirm our sacred interrelation. We can augment and amplify individual and social resilience, and invoke higher insights, emergent capacities, and richer frames of correlation and connection. We can raise societal awareness, tap new levels of collective intelligence, and enact a fresh vision for our world.'
We already have everything we need to heal ourselves, our societies, and our planet. And we must, for there is no time to waste.'
Please let me know if you decide to sign up. I would love to know Sunny Optimists are attending.
So beautiful. The golden thread—reality in its highest order — thank you for this crystalline insight, beloved friend!!! ♥️🙏🏼
Hi Ann, bit late responding - but better that than never. I love this one and William Stafford’s poem. The notion of contrasts and rising above them to see connections really resonates. The shift from binary thinking to systemic thinking - or moving from either/or to both and thinking feels like an immense journey and one to have fun with
