Greetings Sunshine Buddies,
I hope there is sunshine in your day today wherever your feet touch the ground. I have been reading recently about the lack of sunshine in our lives during our winter months. And that this can lead us to be rather SAD with Seasonal Affect Disorder. So I was pleased when an excellent video on sunshine popped into my mailbox this week.
It is an interview between Aubrey Marcus from the education website After Skool and Dr. Zach Bush on the life-giving properties of the Sun. I just loved the content of the interview and the portrayal of this in real-time by a cartoonist. It felt like a beautiful topic for The Sunny Optimist this week. I hope you enjoy it. Please click here or on the image below to view.
Here are some of the snippets from the video that captured my imagination today.
The Sun operates in a vacuum, and so it is not hot. Stay with me for a moment.
The Sun is not hot!
You know I knew that space was a vacuum, but I hadn't made the connection that heat cannot travel through a vacuum. What is happening on the surface of the Sun is all nuclear reactions; there is no heat there. These nuclear reactions pulse a spectrum of electromagnetic radiation out into the Universe, and some of this reaches us here on Earth. Thermodynamics, the creation of heat, only comes into play when this radiation hits the Earth's outer atmosphere. Well, now I learned something new this week :)
There is evolutionary wisdom at play in what Zach goes on to describe next. When we use the word 'energy,' what we are talking about is the nuclear power of the Sun. When plants evolved, they developed the ability to use the Sun's energy to photosynthesise water and carbon dioxide into carbohydrates. In this process, they also give out life-giving oxygen. These two capabilities made it possible for animals to evolve by using carbohydrates as food and oxygen for respiration.
I had not realised that in photosynthesis, the plants transform the heat back into electromagnetic energy, which is stored within the carbohydrates they make. When an animal consumes plant food, the carbohydrates are broken down by the animal's mitochondria to release this stored energy once again as light (electromagnetic energy). Our tiny mitochondria release the energy from the Sun brought to us by the photosynthesis of plants. Wowee, I just love the interplay and interdependency in this.
The upshot of all of this is we are emitting an electromagnetic field of light energy that comes from the Sun.
We have an aura of sunshine. We are beaming sunshine.
So when you hug someone, Dr. Bush says, 'you are literally bringing yourself into the sunshine of another human being.'
This thought makes me somewhat tingly, I have to say. It feels so energising to share this with you. I am sending each of you a Sunny Optimist hug. May each of our sunlight beam out to all of life on Earth to bring healing and balance. It feels so needed in these times.
Pulses from the Tree of Life
I would love to add a wee bit more cosmology to this week’s post. I enjoy the work of Mayan scholar Carl John Calleman. His ideas are often at my edge of comprehension. But I can usually gather the essence of his writing while not always understanding the detail. His image below shows how the pulsating energy that comes to us from the Sun may well originate from what Calleman calls the ‘Tree of Life.’
I understand that the Tree of Life is the origin point of the Divine Intelligence that came into form at the time of the Big Bang. The Tree of Life sends out guidance ( in-formation) via electromagnetic impulses. As you can see in the diagram below, the flow of this pulsating energy travels from the Tree of Life through the Universal to the Galactic, to the Solar, to the Planetary, to the Human, to the Cellular, to the Atomic. It is all connected and beamed, and we humans are part of the transmission of this Divine Intelligence.
When I first came across this insight, it made some sense to me. This concept aligns the spiritual nature of Creation (The Tree of Life) with a physical way for the Divine to pulsate information to reach us. And it is a Mystery too!
I would love to know what you make of this.
Questions for this Week
And so my questions for you this week.
How does it feel to know you are essentially sunshine?
Who would you like to hug and share sunshine with?
How does this energetic evolutionary story flow into your optimism?
As always, I would love to hear from you. Each week this connection with you brings sunshine into my life.
Ann
Ann. The Zach Bush "Unlock the Sunlight Within" video is extraordinarily helpful. I am sharing this with an entire band of co-conspirators as we move rapidly towards a new consciousness of who we are and what life means. Thank you so much!!
What synchronicity! I just came across this same video with Dr. Zach Bush earlier this week! Loved it too and have shared it with others! So much of what we have been taught is being turned on its head. About time too when you think how long quantum physics has been scientifically recognised and how little is apparent in how our societies operate and in our collective understanding.
I also love the wisdom from Zach Bush on the connection between the state of the soil biome and our gut biome. It transpires that as in other aspects of nature, diversity, in this case in our gut biome, is the key to good health! Have a great week! Much love, Mark
