Greeting dear friends and family,
Well now, here we are once more on a Friday, and the heart of the Sunny Optimist continues to beat. I sometimes wonder if it will come to a natural completion, and yet each Friday, I wake up happily with something to offer you. I am grateful for this.
As I write here today, I have this image of an elder sitting in a rocking chair on her porch, contemplating the landscape. Thinking of the people she has loved, is loving, and will love in the times to come. Content to sit and muse on her life and to imagine new adventures.
Out on the elder’s landscape, her eyes rest on a beautiful oak tree. One of her favourite trees that is ancient, majestic, and sacred. She remembers that the word Druid means ‘oak wisdom’ and appreciates how this connects her to the Celtic culture of this land.
The tree offers a safe haven to a myriad of creatures; the birds love to nest within her and sit atop her branches, sending out their songs to life. The elder appreciates how the divine blueprint for this magnificent being is held in a tiny seed within the acorn. The brilliance and intelligence of creation are held there ripe and ready to respond to the warmth and the light.
I invite us to just stop for a moment and think about this.
Breath in! Let the Magic and Mystery of life enter your heart.
Breath out! Relax into knowing you also have a divine blueprint.
Just stay with the in and out of your breath for a while. Mmmmm
Guided Visualisation: The Oak
And so this leads me to my gift for you this week. It is the July guided visualisation from the Dorothea Breitzter-Kings book Meditations through the Year. It is called the Oak and is the fifth one I have recorded. I so love the imagery and the fluency of her writing that evokes each month in such a beautiful way.
Click here or on the photo to listen. Enjoy!
The music flowing with my recording is a gift from my voice coach and friend, Tim Uffindell. I sent him my track, and he recorded the piano music in just one take. Amazing and wonderful. He loves to listen and play what arises within him in the moment. I am in awe of his skill and loving heart—a deep bow of appreciation. You can find him here.
Questions for this week
I love to offer you evocative questions to open up the space for insights and optimism to come to you. I am imagining you sitting quietly with the beauty of the natural world around you. And so, here are this week’s questions.
What is calling forward in your life from your divine blueprint?
Is there a sacred tree from your indigenous culture that is special to you
As always,I would love to hear from you:)
Ann
Loved the meditation, Ann. So beautiful. Thank you!
Hi Ann. As always, appreciate your beautiful thoughts and messages each Friday. I suggest you read “The Oak Papers” by James Canton, if you’ve not already read it. Canton spent 2 years sitting with and studying a large ancient oak tree. Hope you’re well. Let’s connect again soon. Lunch in Edinburgh? Bob
