Greeting dear Sunny Optimists,
This week I reached the milestone of having 100 subscribers for The Sunny Optimist. I am doing a wee mental jig around the room at the thought of this. Woo Hoo!
When I first began this adventure, I imagined a small group of family and friends who care for me would sign up. Little did I think that 100 people would say yes to my musings. I am hugely appreciative and touched by this. Thank you.
Last week a dear friend Mark Baugh spotlighted The Sunny Optimist in The Cherry Tree Lodge newsletter. Eight of his friends signed up, thus contributing significantly to reaching this milestone. It is lovely to have people on your side and to have people say yes to your offerings. Thank you, Mark, and welcome to your friends who signed up this week.
My 100th subscriber was my Danish friend Birgitte Raaberg which feels wonderfully significant too. We have not seen each other for many years, yet there is a constancy in our affection for each other. Birgitte is an amazing actress, singer, author, and teacher, and I have many delightful memories of our times together. In her comment on the Gift of Friendship last week, she said,
'For me, friendship is many things - when we live in each other's hearts - even when we don't meet because of distance.'
That feels so evocative. The energy coming from these words opens a gossamer thread of connection that spans time and distance. I wonder in this moment about the relationships you have where you 'live in each other's hearts.' I feel a catch of emotion in my throat as I write these words. I think of my Mum and Dad, my children and grandchildren, family, friends…… Oh my, I see how fundamental such relationships are to our wellbeing.
As always, I would love to hear from you if you wish to share.
Guided Visualisation for October : The Well
Each month I like to record a guided visualisation for you from the lovely little book called Meditations Through the Year by Dorothea Breitzer-Kings. There is a simplicity to her writing combined with a deep connection to the wisdom of the natural world that is so evocative. I look forward to opening the book each month to see what adventure she has divined for us this time. As always, a big thank you to my coach Tim Uffindell for the piano accompaniment. I hope you enjoy it.
For this October meditation, Dorothea takes us on a walk through a garden steeped in autumn colour to an ancient well where we connect with the healing power of water. I invite you to find 15 minutes of quiet time to settle back and let Dorothea's imagery and Tim's music soothe and revitalise you.

The Crystal Beauty of Water.
As I was recording the meditation, the following words from the book deeply resonated with me,
'Let yourself be attracted to the crystal beauty of the water, and the promise of healing and renewal that you can sense coming from it.'
A shift in my body moved me away from my everyday thinking about water to a remembering of its sacred and primordial nature. Alchemists considered water as 'prima materia' in that it is essential for life. Many billions of years ago, water played its unique part in making life on Earth possible.
As I was contemplating this, I remembered the book The Healing Power of Water. edited by Masaru Emoto. He is the scientist who took photographs of ice crystals. He believes that no two snow crystals are the same. Just like us, they are each a unique and special manifestation of creation.
I love the photograph below that shows the typical hexagon shape of snow crystals. Each one is 'seeded' by a matrix that other water droplets can attach to in their unique way. The formation of a snowflake is yet another example of the innate and sacred geometry of the natural world.
In the meditation, Dorothea invites us to listen to the water's sound, which took me to an appreciation of its vibrational intelligence. In his book, Messages from Water and the Universe, Masaru demonstrates how vibrational energy be they thoughts, words, ideas, or sound, affect the molecular structure of water. In addition to this, water can read and reflect energy, sending vibrational healing towards us. Think of sitting beside a babbling brook, or hearing the rush of an ocean wave, or watching a deep river pass by silently and majestically.
Questions for this week
There is something so profound in the way we resonate and attune with water. So my questions this week for you are;
Where is your favourite piece of water?
What magical experiences have you had with water? (steam, liquid, or ice)
How do you celebrate your relationship with this elixir of life?
As always, I would love to hear your thoughts)
Ann
Dear Ann. Loved the reading this week. I dove quite deep perhaps because i am a Pisces. My magical time with water is when I used to go skiing in the Alps. I wasn't so much keen on the skiing as I was standing at the top of a snow capped mountain feeling on top of the world. It was like overseeing a field of diamonds when the sun shone upon it. As for my favourite piece of water - I am on the lookout for it next to my new home. Thank you for the offering.
My only comment this week is a BIG thank you and Tim for that lovely soothing poem. No more words. Just heart to heart thank you.
