Greetings Sunny Optimists,
I am sending you good vibrations today for this moving into September time. I love this time of year here in Scotland. There is so much greenery in abundance here, and yet there is also a sense of slowing down, cooling down, and of softening. Mmmmm.
I was aware this morning of wondering if we might have an Indian Summer or if the weather has settled into a gentle flow into autumn. And I realised that I am content either way, which feels good.
So as I appreciated this softening of seasonal change, I thought you might like a September song called Try to Remember sung by the Greek singer Nana Mouskouri. She has the most exquisite voice that brings a delightful lyrical, and wistful quality to the words. I have not listened to this for a long time, and I could feel this lovely rise of remembering and appreciation. I hope you enjoy it too.

Try to remember the kind of September when life was slow and oh, so mellow. Try to remember the kind of September when grass was green and grain so yellow. Try to remember and if you remember then follow. Follow. Follow. Follow!
Contemplating September
Following the rhythms and cycles of the natural world is an evocative and gentle way to explore our own transitioning in the seasons of our lives. Contemplation is one of my favourite stillness practices. To sit with and meld with nature and see what arises within us is a magical thing to do. I have been wonderfully surprised by the insights I have gained from this simple practice.
If you have the inclination, I invite you to go outside and contemplate with nature. Just relax into the arms of Mother Earth, and see what comes to you as you commune with the seasonal beauty around you.
If this is not possible, below is an image for you to contemplate this season of your life.
Questions for this Week
And so dear family and friends I wonder;
Can you sense the subtle seasonal changes that are happening where you live?
How do these changes reflect your life at this time?
What makes your heart sing about this time of year?
As always, I would love to hear from you.
Thank you
Ann
Try to Remember
from the musical "The Fantasticks".
Try to remember the kind of September
when life was slow and oh, so mellow.
Try to remember the kind of September
when grass was green and grain so yellow.
Try to remember the kind of September
when you were a young and callow fellow,
Try to remember and if you remember then follow.
Try to remember when life was so tender
that no one wept except the willow.
Try to remember when life was so tender
That dreams were kept beside your pillow.
Try to remember when life was so tender
That love was an ember about to billow.
Try to remember and if you remember then follow.
Deep in December it's nice to remember
although you know the snow will follow.
Deep in December it's nice to remember
without the hurt the heart is hollow.
Deep in December it's nice to remember
the fire of September that made you mellow.
Deep in December our hearts should remember then follow.
