Greetings Dear Sunny Buddies,
The snowdrops are out! Spring is here.
Are your spirits rising today with this burgeoning of the season?
It is so lovely how these beautiful tiny flowers herald the season's turning. They are like the swallows arriving, telling us that we can relax into this transition from winter to springtime. These seasonal messengers from the natural world are so compelling. They invite us to settle into the predictability that the days will lengthen and temperatures will rise.
We breathe a sigh of relief.
Our eyes lift to the clearing blue sky.
We hear the birds start to sing once more.
In these uncertain times, it is profoundly reassuring to experience Mother Earth continuing to do what she does. We can relax in the wisdom of the eternal flowing into physical reality that takes us beyond the ordinary into the extraordinary. This connection is there to sustain our optimism in the face of the challenges we are facing just now.
Spring is a time of awakening and stirring. Our spirits lift as we leave behind the quiet, reflective time of winter. But, just like the seedlings that are ready to burst through the warming ground, we can feel a sense of urgency as we turn to the sunlight. We begin to think about what is next and prepare for what is being called forward in us.
Are you feeling this too?
I am imagining you sitting outside with your face raised to the warmth of the sun. As I write these words, I feel a delight rising myself in the renewal and rebirth before us in this time.
I recently came across the beautiful poetry below from María Sabina Magdalena García. She was a wisdom keeper and Mazatec healer who lived in Huautla de Jiménez, Sierra Mazateca in Mexico. If you would like to know more about her click here.
Her words open us to the simplicity of living in harmony with the natural world. All we need is there for us if we take the time to stop, look and listen. I hope you enjoy here words as you contemplate your connection with the magic and mystery of Mother Earth.
Cure yourself with the light of the sun and the rays of the moon.
With the sound of the river and the waterfall.
With the swaying of the sea and the fluttering of birds.
Heal yourself with mint, with neem and eucalyptus.
Sweeten yourself with lavender, rosemary, and chamomile.
Hug yourself with the cocoa bean and a touch of cinnamon.
Put love in tea instead of sugar, and take it looking at the stars.
Heal yourself with the kisses that the wind gives you and the hugs of the rain.
Get strong with bare feet on the ground and with everything that is born from it.
Get smarter every day by listening to your intuition, looking at the world with the eye of your forehead.
Jump, dance, sing, so that you live happier.
Heal yourself, with beautiful love, and always remember: you are the medicine.”
Questions for this Week
The winter does not loosen its grip all at once. Instead, it is a gradual process with an ebb and flow dance with the returning warmth and light. The seedlings take their time to break through the relaxing earth as they grow towards the sunlight. And so you need to be gentle with your emergence into this new season too.
My gentle questions for you today are:
What aspects of the spring season do your delight in?
In this time of renewal, what are you growing towards?
As always, I would love to hear from you:)
Ann
Dear Ann! You’re beautiful writing really gifts us with the gentle awakening that heralds Spring. Your beautiful invitation turns my face into the warming sun, and turns my spirit to face into the warmth and joy of gratitude. In times of darkness and uncertainty, the wonder of birdsongs and the arrival of each season gifts me with freshness and hope. Thank you for sharing your heart and helping me turn toward our Mother Earth as my comfort. xxo
Oh my. I always appreciate your Sunny Optimist, but I think this may be my favorite thus far. Thank you for including the link to Maria Sabina. It takes me back to an experience I had with a medicine woman in Mexico 30 years ago. I was not intending the experience. It was put on my path.
Maria’s poem is a healing hug.
I hope you feel my grateful heart. 💓💓💓🌟🌟🙏🙏 Robyn
